EOUs Must Pay Annual Cost Recovery Charges for Central Excise and Customs Supervision Based on Staff Expenses
Cost recovery charges are fees collected from Export Oriented Units (EOUs) to cover government expenses for deploying Central Excise and Customs staff to supervise their operations. These charges are based on the actual salary and benefits of the staff, including allowances. EOUs are required to pay these charges in advance for the entire year. Typically, one officer oversees four to five units, and the cost recovery charges are divided among them.
