Imports and exports are free except where ITC (HS) or DGFT notifications impose prohibition, restriction or exclusive State Trading Enterprise trading. ITC (HS) classifies goods and indicates import/export regimes; restricted items require Authorisations with specified terms (actual user, export obligation, guarantees, validity). IEC is mandatory; documentary, customs, warehousing and bonded procedures for import, export, repair, re export and transit are prescribed.
