India Updates Cashew Import Policy: New Price Limits Set for Broken and Whole Kernels; Exceptions for EOUs and SEZs.
The Central Government has amended the import policy for cashew kernels, both broken and whole, under specific ITC(HS) codes. Imports are generally prohibited unless the Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) value exceeds Rs. 680 per kg for broken kernels and Rs. 720 per kg for whole kernels. The Minimum Import Price (MIP) conditions do not apply to 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and units in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), provided these units do not sell the imported cashew kernels in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). These changes are effective with the Ministry's approval.
