India Adds Krishnapatnam Port for Scrap Imports; Handbook of Procedures Updated, Expanding Designated Ports to Fifteen.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, has updated the Handbook of Procedures (2015-2020) to include Krishnapatnam Port as a designated port for the import of scrap. This amendment, effective from May 9, 2018, modifies paragraph 2.54(d)(iv) to expand the list of designated ports to fifteen, now including Krishnapatnam alongside existing ports such as Chennai, Cochin, and Mumbai. No exceptions will be allowed for imports through other ports, even for Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
