DGFT Updates Handbook: Export Proceeds Can Now Be Realized in INR or Convertible Currency Per RBI Circular.
Amendments have been made to Paragraph 5.11 of the Handbook of Procedures 2015-2020 by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, aligning it with the RBI's Circular No.10 dated 11th July 2022. The revised paragraph now allows export proceeds to be realized in freely convertible currency or Indian Rupees, except for deemed exports under Chapter 7. Supplies to SEZ units will be counted for Export Obligation discharge, with realization from the SEZ unit's foreign currency account. These changes permit invoicing, payment, and settlement of exports and imports in INR under the EPCG Scheme, effective immediately.
