India Extends Sugar Export Restrictions Until October 31, 2023; 60 LMT Quota Allocated for 2022-23 Season.
The Government of India has extended the restriction on sugar exports (raw, refined, and white) under specific HS Codes until October 31, 2023. A sugar mill-wise export quota of 60 LMT is allocated for the 2022-23 season, effective from November 1, 2022. Sugar mills can export their quota directly or through merchant exporters/refineries. Those unwilling to export can surrender their quota or exchange it with domestic quotas. The export quota is based on a mill's average production over the last three seasons. Strict compliance with the guidelines is mandated, with violations subject to legal action.
