Falsification of workplace safety and compliance records is punishable by imprisonment or significant fines, with stiffer penalties for repeat offences. Knowingly producing, using or delivering false records, statements, plans or reports required for compliance with the Code is punishable by imprisonment up to three months, or a fine up to one lakh rupees, or both; repeat conviction attracts enhanced penalties of imprisonment up to six months or a fine of not less than one lakh rupees and up to two lakh rupees, or both.
