A mine manager may authorize employment contrary to statutory hours of work and related restrictions to address emergencies, accidents, acts of God, or urgent machinery breakdowns when necessary to protect mine or worker safety; urgent repairs may incidentally affect production but must not exceed what is necessary, and every instance must be recorded and reported to the Inspectorate.
