of <h1>Establishment code contraventions: mandatory Rs.2-3 lakh fine and up to Rs.2,000 per day continuing penalty until cessation</h1> Except as otherwise expressly provided in the Code, any contravention in or in respect of an establishment of the Code, its regulations, rules, bye-laws, standards or any written order thereunder renders the employer or principal employer liable to a monetary penalty; the operative effect is a fine of not less than two lakh rupees and not exceeding three lakh rupees, with an additional continuing penalty of up to two thousand rupees for each day the contravention persists after conviction until cessation.
