Social security rules streamline registration, fund administration, benefit eligibility and compliance under the central labour framework. The rules consolidate and supersede multiple earlier central labour rules under the Code on Social Security, 2020, while preserving prior acts or omissions. They regulate registration and cancellation of establishments, conditions for making Chapters III and IV inapplicable, fund administration, and the constitution, tenure, election and functioning of social security bodies, including the Central Board, Employees' State Insurance Corporation and National Social Security Board.
