Workers lose lay-off compensation if they refuse suitable alternative work, fail daily attendance, or due to strike-related lay-offs. Section 69 denies lay-off compensation where the worker refuses suitable alternative employment offered by the same employer within the same town or an eight-kilometre radius at normal wages, fails to present for work at the appointed time during normal working hours at least once a day, or where the lay-off is caused by a strike or slowdown of production by workers in another part of the establishment.
