of <h1>Transfer of establishment: entitlement to retrenchment-style notice and compensation for workers with one years continuous service, subject to specified exceptions</h1> Section 73 of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 provides that when ownership or management of an establishment is transferred by agreement or operation of law, every worker with at least one year of continuous service immediately before the transfer is entitled to notice and compensation as if retrenched under the provisions applicable to retrenchment. The entitlement does not apply where (a) the workers service is uninterrupted by the transfer, (b) post-transfer terms and conditions are not less favourable, and (c) the new employer is legally liable to treat service as continuous and pay retrenchment compensation where applicable.
