Section 54 Empowers Magistrate to Secure Multi-State Co-Op Society Records and Property Amid Risks or Reconstitution.
Section 54 of the Multi-State Co-Operative Societies Act, 2002, addresses securing possession of records and property of a multi-state co-operative society. If there is a risk of tampering, destruction, or misappropriation of the society's records or property, or if the board is reconstituted or the society is ordered to wind up, the Chief Executive can apply to a magistrate to secure them. The magistrate may authorize a police officer to search and seize the records and property, which must be handed to the new board or liquidator, following the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
