Multi-State co-operative societies must appoint an Information Officer to handle member requests, per 2023 amendment.
Every multi-State co-operative society must appoint a Co-operative Information Officer to provide management and affairs information to its members, as per the society's disclosure norms. Members can apply for information with a prescribed fee, and the officer must respond within thirty days, either providing the information or rejecting the request with reasons. If rejected, members can appeal to the Co-operative Ombudsman within one month, whose decision is final. This provision was amended in 2023, replacing the previous requirement for societies to keep their rules and member lists available for inspection.
