Co-op societies can expel members with a two-thirds vote; re-admission blocked for three years post-2023 amendment.
A multi-State co-operative society can expel a member by a resolution passed with at least a two-thirds majority at a general meeting if the member's actions harm the society's operations. The member must be given a fair chance to present their case before expulsion. Once expelled, the individual cannot be re-admitted as a member for three years from the expulsion date. This period was amended from the previous one-year term by the 2023 amendment to the Multi-State Co-Operative Societies Act.
