The Ombudsman must resolve complaints within three months and can issue binding directions to societies, which must comply within one month. Societies can appeal Ombudsman decisions to the Central Registrar within one month, with a possible extension for valid reasons. The Ombudsman has powers similar to a civil court and must submit periodic reports to the Central Registrar.
