Section 44: Limits on Leadership Roles in Multi-State Co-Operative Societies for Ministers and Consecutive Term Holders.
Section 44 of the Multi-State Co-Operative Societies Act, 2002, restricts certain individuals from holding leadership positions in multi-state co-operative societies. Specifically, a board member cannot be elected as chairperson, president, vice-chairperson, or vice-president if they are a Minister in the Central or State Government. Additionally, a member who has served two consecutive terms as chairperson or president is ineligible for re-election unless they have been out of office for one full term. Members holding office at the Act's commencement and re-elected thereafter are considered to have served one term prior to re-election.
