Branch opening rights for multi State co operative societies override state co operative laws, except for co operative banks. Multi State cooperative societies, other than cooperative banks, may open branches or places of business anywhere in India notwithstanding any contrary State cooperative law; the provision grants a nationwide branch opening right for qualifying non banking multi State societies and excludes cooperative banks from that entitlement.
