          <h1>Power to stop and search conveyances permits officers to detain, search, compel landing or stop, and use force if necessary.</h1> Section 106 grants a proper officer power to stop or compel the landing of conveyances suspected of smuggling, to rummage and search parts of the conveyance, examine goods, and break locks if keys are withheld; it also authorizes summoning by government vessels or aircraft using international signals, pursuit and, after a warning gunshot, firing on non complying vessels or aircraft, and permits use of lawful means, including firing, to stop vehicles or animals if other means fail.
