of <h1>Temporary Baggage Detention Allowed Under Customs Act for Dutiable Items with True Declaration Made Under Section 77.</h1> Section 80 of the Customs Act, 1962, allows for the temporary detention of a passenger's baggage containing dutiable or prohibited items if a true declaration has been made under Section 77. The proper officer may, upon the passenger's request, hold the item to be returned when the passenger departs India. If the passenger cannot collect the item upon departure, it may be returned through another authorized passenger leaving India or sent as cargo consigned in the passenger's name.
