          <h1>Power to require production compels persons in charge of conveyances to produce documents and answer questions during customs checks.</h1> Section 38 authorises the proper officer to require the person-in-charge of any conveyance or animal carrying imported or export goods to produce any document and to answer any questions, and obliges that person to produce such documents and answer such questions for the purposes of carrying out the Customs Act.
