Exemption power for coastal goods allows government to exempt statutory provisions via Gazette notification when public interest requires. Section 98A empowers the Central Government to exempt coastal goods or vessels carrying coastal goods from all or any provisions of the Customs Chapter by notification in the Official Gazette, either absolutely or subject to conditions, when satisfied the exemption is necessary in the public interest.
