Power to search suspected entrants enables officers to search persons believed to conceal confiscable goods or related documents. A proper officer may search any person if the officer reasonably believes that the person has secreted goods liable to confiscation or documents relating to such goods. This power is directed at persons involved in cross border movement or present within customs areas, including those on vessels in customs waters, on foreign going aircraft, in vehicles arriving from or departing to places outside India, or otherwise entering or leaving India.
