of <h1>Police Officers in Tamil Nadu Districts Empowered as Customs Officers under Customs Act 1962, Sections 100-110</h1> The Central Government has authorized police officers in Madras City and the districts of Chingleput, South Arcot, Thanjavur, Quaid-e-Milleth, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, and Kanyakumari to perform functions as customs officers under the Customs Act, 1962. This delegation of authority excludes customs areas and applies within their respective jurisdictions. All police officers are entrusted with duties under sections 100, 102, 106, and 110 of the Act. Additionally, officers of and above the rank of Sub-Inspector are assigned duties under section 101, while those of and above the rank of Inspector are assigned duties under section 104.
