Coastal goods can be governed by import and export provisions and other customs rules through central notification. Coastal goods are, so far as may be, to be governed by the same provisions that apply to imported or export goods, and vessels carrying coastal goods are, so far as may be, to be governed by the same provisions as vessels carrying imported or export goods. The Central Government may, by notification, direct that other provisions of Chapter VI and section 45 apply to coastal goods or vessels carrying coastal goods with such exceptions and modifications as specified.
