Tribunal-appointed examination process: adjourning prolonged questioning, examiner's report, and Tribunal takeover with consequential directions
A person or authority appointed by the Tribunal to conduct an examination may adjourn the examination, in whole or in part, to be held before the Tribunal where the examination is unduly or unnecessarily protracted or where other sufficient cause exists to require that it be conducted before the Tribunal. The examiner must submit a report to the Tribunal. Upon receipt, the Tribunal may itself conduct the examination or make such orders as it considers fit, thereby enabling the Tribunal to assume control over the examination process and issue consequential directions where continuation before the appointed examiner is inappropriate.
