Use of deadly weapon in robbery elevates the offence and mandates at least seven years imprisonment. Where, in committing robbery or dacoity, the offender uses any deadly weapon, causes grievous hurt, or attempts to cause death or grievous hurt, the imprisonment for that offender shall be not less than seven years.
