<h1>Accepting Gratification to Conceal Offences Under Section 250 Leads to Severe Penalties, Including Imprisonment and Fines.</h1> Under Section 250 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, any person who accepts, attempts to obtain, or agrees to accept any form of gratification or restitution to conceal an offence or shield an offender from legal punishment faces penalties. If the concealed offence is punishable by death, the penalty is up to seven years of imprisonment and a fine. For offences punishable by life imprisonment or up to ten years, the penalty is up to three years of imprisonment and a fine. For lesser offences, the punishment is up to one-fourth of the maximum imprisonment term for that offence, a fine, or both.
