          <h1>Section 62: Punishment for Attempting Crimes with Life Imprisonment or Other Imprisonment under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023</h1> Section 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, addresses the punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable by imprisonment for life or other imprisonment. If an individual attempts such an offence and performs any act towards its commission, they will be subject to imprisonment for up to half the term prescribed for the offence, or a fine, or both, unless a specific punishment for the attempt is provided. Illustrations include attempting theft by breaking into an empty box or attempting to pick an empty pocket, both of which are punishable under this section.
