Dishonestly making false claim in court is an offence punishable by imprisonment and fine under the statute. Section 246 penalises anyone who, fraudulently or dishonestly, or with intent to injure or annoy another, makes in a court any claim which they know to be false, imposing criminal liability in the form of imprisonment and a fine for that conduct under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
