Public servant unlawfully engaging in trade attracts criminal sanctions including imprisonment, fine, or community service. A public servant legally bound not to engage in trade who nevertheless engages in trade commits an offence under Section 202 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, punishable by simple imprisonment, fine, or community service, alone or in combination.
