Punishment for manufacturing spurious goods: escalating imprisonment, non-bailable offences for serious harm, and licence suspension or cancellation. Liability attaches to manufacturing for sale, storing, selling, distributing, or importing spurious goods with tiered punishments by harm: non grievous injury (imprisonment up to one year and fine), grievous hurt (imprisonment up to seven years and fine), and death (imprisonment not less than seven years up to life and minimum fine). Offences causing grievous hurt or death are cognizable and non bailable. Courts may suspend a licence on first conviction for up to two years and cancel licences on subsequent convictions.
