Consumer Protection Authority Can Recall Unsafe Goods, Halt Unfair Practices Under Consumer Protection Act, 2019
The Central Consumer Protection Authority under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, has the power to take action if an investigation reveals a violation of consumer rights or unfair trade practices. This includes recalling dangerous or unsafe goods, withdrawing services, reimbursing consumers for such goods or services, and halting unfair practices. Before issuing an order, the authority must provide the involved party an opportunity to be heard.
