Legal Entity Identifier responsibility rests with correspondent banks for non-resident counterparties, subject to regulatory guidance. The correspondent bank is primarily responsible for obtaining the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) for the non resident counterparty in cross border transactions, subject to the procedural guidance and exceptions set out in paragraph 2 of the circular.
