<h1>Foreign spouse of NRI/OCI can jointly acquire one property in India under Rule 25, excluding farm/agricultural lands.</h1> A person residing outside India, who is not a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), but is married to an NRI or OCI, can acquire one immovable property in India. This excludes agricultural land, farmhouses, and plantation properties. The acquisition must be made jointly with their NRI/OCI spouse and comply with the conditions specified in Rule 25 of the Foreign Exchange Management (Non-Debt Instrument) Rules, 2019.
