Mode of inspection governs authorized access to case records once permission is granted, requiring procurement and supervised inspection under an authorised officer; the supervisor may prohibit or terminate inspection if records are likely to be damaged or rules violated, must record the incident in the Inspection Register and report to the Registrar. The inspecting person must not dislocate, mutilate, tamper with or mark records, and may take notes only in pencil.
