Rule 26: Steps for Filing, Endorsement, and Correcting Petitions or Appeals; Registrar's Role in Document Scrutiny.
Rule 26 of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal Rules, 2016, outlines the procedure for the endorsement and scrutiny of petitions, appeals, or documents. Upon receipt, the filing-counter personnel must date-stamp the documents, affix initials, and record details in a register with a diary number. If defects are found during scrutiny, the document is returned for correction. The party has seven days to comply; otherwise, the Registrar may issue orders. The Registrar can return documents for rectification, granting reasonable time for compliance. Failure to address defects may result in the Registrar declining to register the document.
