Acting Chairperson rule for Appellate Tribunal: senior-most member assumes chair duties during vacancy or incapacity. When the Chairperson's office is vacant by death or resignation, the senior-most Member shall act as Chairperson until a new Chairperson appointed under the Act enters office. If the Chairperson is temporarily unable to perform duties due to absence, illness or other cause, the senior-most Member or another Member authorised by Central Government notification shall discharge the Chairperson's functions until the Chairperson resumes duties.
