False information in statutory filings triggers regulatory penalties and empowers the commission to impose additional remedial orders. Section 45 makes it a contravention for a person required to furnish particulars, documents or information under the Act to knowingly or with reason to believe provide materially false statements, omit material facts, or wilfully alter, suppress or destroy required documents; such conduct attracts a Penalty as determined by the Commission, which may also pass any other order it deems fit.
