          <h1>Competition law establishes a Commission to prevent anti-competitive practices and promote market competition and consumer protection.</h1> The Act establishes a Commission to prevent practices having adverse effect on competition, to promote and sustain competition in markets, to protect consumer interests and to ensure freedom of trade. It is titled the Competition Act, 2002, extends to India excluding Jammu and Kashmir, and comes into force by Central Government notification, with different provisions allowed to commence on different dates.
