Mediated settlement agreements may be registered with designated authorities within 180 days; late registration incurs a fee. Mediated settlement agreements made outside court-referred mediations or specified Lok Adalat awards may, at parties' option, be registered with a designated Authority or notified body which will issue a unique registration number. Registration may be done within 180 days of receipt of an authenticated copy by the parties or mediation provider, with late registration permitted on payment of a fee to be specified in consultation with the Authority. Registration may occur within the territorial jurisdiction of the competent court or tribunal and does not affect rights to enforce or challenge the agreement under the Act.
