Composition of offences under the Code on Wages allows compounding by specified officers for fifty percent of the maximum fine. Specified Gazetted Officers may compound eligible offences under the Code on Wages by accepting fifty per cent of the maximum fine, under prescribed procedures and subject to the appropriate Government's direction and supervision; compounding is not available for repeat offences within five years, prevents initiation or continuation of prosecution as specified, and failure to comply with a compounding order incurs an additional penalty equal to twenty per cent of the maximum fine.
