          <h1>Adjudicating Authority designation tied to competent authority under Smugglers Act for exercising jurisdiction under benami law.</h1> Section 7 designates the Adjudicating Authority for the Benami Act as the competent authority authorised under sub section (1) of section 5 of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976, and vests that Authority with the jurisdiction, powers and authority to exercise functions under the Benami Act; the current text reflects amendments enacted by the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 and substitution by the Finance Act, 2021.
