of <h1>Section 15 Amendment Removes Senior-Most Member's Role as Acting Chairperson in Benami Transactions Authority</h1> Section 15 of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, as amended, previously provided that in the event of a vacancy or temporary inability of the Chairperson of the Adjudicating Authority, the senior-most Member would act as Chairperson or discharge the Chairperson's functions until a new Chairperson assumed office or the existing Chairperson resumed duties. This provision has been omitted effective July 1, 2021, removing the statutory mechanism for senior-most Members to act as Chairperson in such circumstances.
