Benami property confiscation framework defines the statutory consequence for property involved in a benami transaction. Property that is the subject matter of a benami transaction is liable to confiscation by the Central Government. The amended provision replaces the earlier acquisition-based framework, under which benami property was subject to acquisition by the prescribed authority and no amount was payable for such acquisition.
