of <h1>Removal of Term Limits for Chairperson and Members under Benami Transactions Act Section 3(5) from July 2021</h1> The provision relating to the term of office for the Chairperson and Members of the Adjudicating Authority under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act was omitted effective July 1, 2021. Previously, the Chairperson and Members held office for a maximum term of five years or until reaching the age of sixty-two, whichever occurred first, and were ineligible for reappointment. This removal indicates that the statutory limitation on tenure and reappointment for these authorities no longer applies under the current legal framework.
