Approval Committee powers govern approval and supervision of imports, services, unit establishment, foreign investment and compliance monitoring. The Approval Committee may approve imports or procurements from the Domestic Tariff Area, permit services from outside India or the Domestic Tariff Area for authorised operations, monitor utilisation and warehousing or trading, and approve, modify or reject proposals for setting up Units for manufacturing, services, warehousing or trading, referring questions of manufacture to the Board of Approval. It may allow foreign collaborations and foreign direct investments on required approval, monitor compliance with conditions of letters of approval or permissions, and perform other government-entrusted functions; exceptions apply where the Developer is the Central Government and interim discharge of functions by the Development Commissioner is provided.
