Customs Act provisions cease for Special Economic Zones; prior offenses governed by old laws, existing acts remain valid
Certain provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, and related Special Economic Zones Rules and Customs Procedure Regulations shall cease to apply to Special Economic Zones from a date notified by the Central Government. However, offenses committed before the commencement of this Act under those provisions will continue to be governed by the earlier laws. Any actions, rules, notifications, orders, permissions, or documents made under the earlier provisions, to the extent they are consistent with the new Act, shall be deemed valid under the corresponding provisions of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005.
