SEZ Developer Approval Suspension: Board's Power to Intervene When Performance, Financial Stability, or Compliance Falter
Statutory provisions outline the Board's authority to suspend a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) developer's letter of approval under specific circumstances. The Board can suspend approval if the developer is unable to discharge duties, defaults on directions, violates approval terms, or has financial instability. Upon suspension, an Administrator is appointed to manage the SEZ for up to one year. The developer must be given three months' notice and an opportunity to respond. The Board can transfer the approval to another eligible party or reinstate the original developer based on assessment.
