Whistleblowing in LLPs: Section 31 Protects Informants, Allows Penalty Waivers, and Guards Against Employment Discrimination.
Section 31 of the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, addresses whistleblowing within limited liability partnerships (LLPs). It allows courts or tribunals to reduce or waive penalties for partners or employees who provide useful information during investigations or whose information leads to convictions under this or other Acts. Additionally, it protects these individuals from being discharged, demoted, suspended, threatened, harassed, or otherwise discriminated against in their employment terms solely for providing such information.
